Agri-food events in May 2022
The agri-food industry is preparing for a month of May packed with unmissable events. The fruit, horticulture, meat, wine and food technology sectors are preparing their suitcases to meet up, not only at national but also at European level.
MACFRUT 2022
MACFRUT is a leading trade fair for professionals operating in the fruit and vegetable sector in Italy and Europe.
This 39th edition, held between 4 and 6 May, stood out for its new exhibition areas, the growing number of Italian and foreign companies taking part and a wide range of initiatives aimed at promoting innovation and the internationalisation of the sector.
Macfrut 2022 closed the doors of the Rimini Expo Center with more than 38,500 visitors, a figure that represents an increase of 18% compared to the September 2021 edition.

National Wine Fair (FENAVIN)
With 1,946 wineries from all over Spain, some 18,000 buyers (3,700 from eighty different countries) and more than 7,000 business meetings planned, Fenavin is the leading trade fair for Spanish wine.
The event kicked off last Tuesday with the inauguration of King Felipe VI, who was accompanied by the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page; by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, and by the President of Fenavin and President of the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real, José Manuel Caballero, among other authorities.
Fenavin 2022 has the ‘Wine Gallery‘, considered the largest wine tasting room in the world, where you can taste more than 1,400 wine references, of which 473 are organic wines.

IFFA 2022, International Trade Fair for the Meat Industry and its Processes
The International Fair for the Meat and Allied Industries (IFA 2022) will take place from 14 to 19 May 2022 at Messe Frankfurt, Germany, bringing together all the players in the international meat industry.
With the participation of more than 900 companies from all over the world, this edition of IFA 2022 will also present alternative protein technologies. With this, the fair will seek to highlight the rapid growth of meat alternatives and meat manufacturing processes.

Food 4 Future – Foodtech Expo
Technology, robotics, automation, data technology and processing techniques applied to the agri-food sector come together at Food 4 Future, the event that uncovers the latest innovations and trends that are driving the transformation of the food industry.
This international innovation event for the food and beverage industry returns for its second edition at the BEC in Bilbao on 17, 18 and 19 May. Under the slogan “The Foodtech Revolution“, it will bring together more than 7,000 conference attendees and will aim to position the Spain FoodTech Nation brand internationally, as well as giving professionals from the entire food and beverage industry value chain the opportunity to find their technological partner to drive innovation in their operating model.
More than 250 exhibiting companies will present their proposals and food products that will help to modernise and digitise the entire value chain of the industry, from raw materials to logistics processes. All of this will be accompanied by a programme of activities focusing on topics such as 4.0 technologies, concern for healthy eating, sustainable and efficient food production, and the fight against climate change.

National Oenological Research Congress (GIENOL)
The scientific and technical production of the wine sector will meet in Murcia, from 23 to 26 May, during the 15th edition of the National Oenological Research Congress, GIENOL, whose main objective is to share scientific advances and innovations with researchers from different oenological regions, both from Spain and other countries, and to encourage the interest of young researchers so that they can continue to develop and disseminate the culture of wine.
In addition, this new edition of Gienol ensures that the latest developments in research will be presented through communications on viticulture and marketing, oenological microbiology, oenological technology, analysis and quality control of grapes and wine, and ageing and maturing, among other topics. The aim of all this is to promote the relationship and cooperation between GIENOL members, as well as the coordination of their efforts in the fields of teaching, research and technology transfer to the wine sector.

International Exhibition of Noble Wines (VINOBLE)
From 29 to 31 May 2022, the Alcázar de Jerez will host the 11th edition of Vinoble, the International Exhibition of Noble Wines, the most important exhibition in the world dedicated exclusively to fortified, liqueur wines and special sweet wines.
With more than 40 confirmed exhibitors, the next edition of Vinoble will have a strong international presence, offering a unique journey through the most special noble wines from countries such as France, Sweden, Georgia, United States, Italy, Canada, Greece, Portugal and, of course, Spain.
Among the most striking tastings at Vinoble 2022 are a vertical tasting of Tawny-style ports, the static and dynamic ageing of Fondillons, a tour of sparkling wines from the New World, a journey through organic ageing with origin and destination in Sanlúcar or organic ageing in Spain.
