Call for applications 2021 of the CDTI Missions Programme is already available

On Monday 26 July, the Minister for Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, presented the 2021 call for proposals of the Science and Innovation Missions Programme, which is managed by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) and whose deadline for applications is 6 September.

This second call will allocate more than €141 million in grants, which represents an increase of 41% of the total budget compared to the previous year.

The aim of the programme is to support large strategic R&D projects led by companies that contribute to key challenges such as climate change, energy transition, sustainability and the circular economy, industrial digitisation and economic recovery after COVID-19.

In order to materialise solutions that respond to these challenges, the CDTI has defined nine strategic missions, the themes of which must be included in the project applications for 2021:

  1. Promoting Spanish agriculture in the 21st century: sustainable, intelligent, efficient in the consumption of water resources and agricultural inputs and adapted to climate change.
  2. Promoting secure, efficient and clean energy for the 21st century.
  3. Promoting Spanish industry in the industrial revolution of the 21st century.
  4. Boosting the circular economy through new recycling and recovery technologies for polymeric compound waste in Spain.
  5. Promoting information security, privacy and cybersecurity in the Spanish economy and society in the 21st century.
  6. Promoting sustainable and intelligent intermodal transport.
  7. Promote the development of tourism by exploiting the possibilities of technology.
  8. Promote the technological advancement and training of the Spanish biopharmaceutical industry to foster R&D activities in the field of advanced therapies, vaccines and targeted therapies.
  9. Promote high-performance computing.

This call is included among the actions foreseen in the National Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which is expected to receive funding from the “Next Generation EU” funds, including the Recovery and Resilience Facility, established by Regulation (EU) 2021/241 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 February 2021.
