Three projects managed by artica+i presented as successful cases for their results

Last Tuesday, 28 September, the webinar “Facing climate change through innovation. Successful cases in vineyards and wineries” was organised by the Wine Technology Platform, whose technical secretariat is managed by artica+i, together with the Spanish Wine Interprofessional Organisation (OIVE) and AgroBank.

This online event, whose objective was to present some of the most relevant results of successful R&D&I projects that have contributed to the fight against climate change, was moderated by Robert Savé, emeritus researcher at IRTA and coordinator of Sustainability and Climate Change at the PTV.

Thus, among the projects that served to illustrate some of the techniques and technologies available to help mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, five projects were presented, three of which have been technically managed by artica+i. These are the Globalviti, Freshwines and Life Priorat+Montsant projects.

Robert Savé himself was in charge of highlighting the CIEN Globalviti project which, led by Familia Torres, has achieved a significant improvement in wine production thanks to the implementation of new technologies such as robotics and Big Data.

Antonio Morata, a researcher from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, presented the Freshwines project, led by Lallemand, which recently concluded with the development and optimisation of a series of fermentation biotechnologies and viticultural strategies to improve the freshness and quality of wines.

Finally, Sergi de Lamo, director of VITEC and leader of the Life Priorat+Montsant project, explained how, thanks to this European project, a more sustainable wine production model has been developed in the Priorat region, optimising the use of water, energy, fertilisers and phytosanitary products.

All of them have benefited from the services of artica+i’s Consultancy for Innovation for the technical and administrative management of the project, as well as for the design and execution of their respective communication strategies and dissemination of results.

During the conference, which was attended by more than 90 professionals from the wine sector, the results of two other relevant projects were also presented, such as VISCA, thanks to which an application has been developed for more efficient vineyard management, and EFENERVI, which has contributed to the implementation of renewable energy sources in wineries, as an alternative to improve energy efficiency in the wine sector.
