
The Master’s Degree in Food Safety kicks off
In two weeks’ time, the 19th edition of the Master’s Degree in Food Safety of the Official College of Veterinarians of Madrid will be starting up and, for yet another year, will be supported by us as sponsors.
It is a complete training activity that offers students a comprehensive vision of the field of food safety and quality, combining theoretical classes taught by top professionals and practical work in some of the most renowned food companies in our country.
On 3 October 2022, the 19th edition of the Master’s Degree in Food Safety of the Official College of Veterinarians of Madrid will begin, with the collaboration of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid, the Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid, the General Council of Veterinary Associations of Spain, as well as our participation in the form of sponsors.
The main objective of this master’s degree is to offer students a comprehensive and integrated training in the field of food safety and quality. To this end, the management of the master’s degree has designed a complete programme to provide the necessary knowledge in areas as relevant as the management and implementation of self-control systems based on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), the latest trends in food preservation or new rapid techniques in food microbiology and emerging pathogens.
Students will also receive training in more transversal aspects such as food legislation, food company management (financial management, human resources, marketing, etc.), quality and environmental management in the company and training in occupational risk prevention.
With a duration of 9 months, the master’s degree combines practical and theoretical parts taught by a first-rate teaching staff with recognised teaching skills, mainly from the business, university and health administration sectors.
Who is it aimed at?
Professionals from food companies and the Public Administration related to the food sector, as well as all those professionals who wish to develop their professional career in this industry, can take the Master’s Degree in Food Safety.
In addition, it is a requirement that students must have a university degree in Veterinary Science, Pharmacy, Food Science and Technology or Biology, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or other qualifications that accredit sufficient knowledge and experience in the field of Food Safety.
Theory and practice: a winning combination
The master’s degree has a duration of 870 hours distributed over 9 months, between 3 October 2022 and 29 June 2023. The total of this teaching load is structured around face-to-face classes and monographic sessions, divided into 9 modules, as well as internships in companies. The employment and internship exchange of the Master’s in Food Safety offers students the possibility of training in some of the most significant entities in the food sector in our country.
In addition, different visits to food companies will be organised in the mornings, so that students can familiarise themselves with industrial activity and its relationship with food safety.
On successfully completing all the modules that make up the Master’s Degree in Food Safety, students will obtain the following qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Food Safety.
- Basic qualification in Occupational Risk Prevention.
- Official Accreditation Diploma for each of the 19 modules.
- Certificate in Sanitary Maintenance of Installations at Risk of Legionella.
- Certificate in Food Safety Systems Auditing.
