Alava’s companies will be able to take advantage of European funds and other programmes to boost their digital transformation

artica+i took part in the conference organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Alava ‘Aids for the digitalisation of my company’, in which we discussed how the Next Generation EU funds can be a great opportunity to boost the digital transformation of companies in Alava.

Our Business Development Director, Fernando Boned, commented that “we are at a time of great opportunities, so it is important that we value it and prepare our companies to take advantage of it”, referring to the need to have everything well documented and to have good planning.

Thus, Boned presented the itinerary recommended by artica+i for all companies that want to take advantage of the Next Generation EU (NGEU) funds and the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2017 to boost their digitisation:

  1. Design a NGEU Strategic Plan and include it in the project portfolio.
  2. Identify projects that include digitisation activities.
  3. Qualify the nature of the projects
  4. Technically prepare the project portfolio
  5. To promote networking in order to assess and establish possible alliances and/or agreements.
  6. Preparing implementation budgets including expenditure and investments
  7. Do not forget the traditional regional and national financing instruments.

Boned also emphasised the importance given by the evaluators of this type of aid to sustainable, digital and innovative projects. Along these lines, together with the head of Training of the Alava Chamber of Commerce, Pablo Almaraz, he referred to the guide that artica+i and the Alava Chamber of Commerce have produced to inform and guide companies in Alava interested in accessing this aid.

The event was also attended by Iñaki Suárez, head of the Digital Transformation Area of the SPRI Group (Basque Business Development Agency), who presented three aid programmes for digitalisation offered by the Basque Government: Digital Industry, Industrial Cybersecurity and Applied Artificial Intelligence, which form part of the Strategy for the Digital Transformation of the Basque Country 2025.

SPRI experts such as Yolanda de Mariscal, head of Digital Industry, Guillermo Unamuno, head of Industrial Cybersecurity, and Javier Múgica, head of the Applied Artificial Intelligence programme, also took part to present some regional aid programmes for the digitalisation of companies in Alava.

For his part, Javier Lasarte, head of the Economic Development and Innovation Service at the Provincial Council of Navarre, presented the ‘Álava Innova – Digitaliza 2022’ programme to promote innovation and digitalisation in the province.
