The PTV Innovation Awards 2021, a tribute to R&D&I in the wine industry
For the third consecutive year, the wine sector has gathered at CaixaForum Madrid to celebrate the industry’s commitment to R&D&I at the gala awards ceremony for the Innovation Awards given by the Wine Technology Platform (PTV), whose technical secretariat has been managed by aritica+i for more than 10 years.
This is the greatest recognition that the PTV gives to the R&D&I initiatives of its associates, by means of five prizes awarded in four categories: Young Researcher Award, R&D&I Project -Individual and Consortium-, R&D&I Management and Honorary Award.
The 3rd edition of the PTV Innovation Awards featured Juan Park, director of Wine Intelligence in Spain and South America, as guest speaker. During his speech, he commented that “the wine sector is showing better figures, but the recovery is still slow, the figures are not at pre-pandemic levels”.
Award winners and finalists
Among the award winners was the GOPHYTOVID project, which, managed by our team of Innovative Investment Grants, received the Award for the Consortium R&D&I Project. Javier Sanz, director of Bodegas Las Copas (González Byass), Juan Vázquez, general manager of Bodegas Martín Códax, and Mireia Torres, director of Innovation at Familia Torres, received the award on behalf of the entire consortium. All of them regular clients of our Innovation Consultancy services.
For its part, La Rioja Alta received the Award in the Individual R&D&I Project category for its project “Innovative quality control system using artificial vision, traceability and food safety”, an award collected by its president, Guillermo de Aranzábal.
The Young Researcher Award 2021 went to Diego Taladrid Gandía, researcher at the Food Science Research Institute (CIAL-CSIC), for his work “New range of foods with low salt content seasoned with grape extracts: culinary development and functional evaluation in the prevention of arterial hypertension”.
In addition, this 2021 edition has for the first time included the category “R&D&I Management”, whose winner was the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), for its involvement in the innovative activity of the wine sector and for its greater number of R&D&I projects promoted and approved during 2020.
Finally, in recognition of his extensive career and commitment to the PTV since its beginnings, Pau Roca, director general of the OIV, was awarded the Honorary Award 2021.
