We join the MadriFood Cluster: another step forward in driving Agri-Food innovation
Our incorporation into the Agri-Food Cluster of the Community of Madrid, MadriFood, reinforces our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the competitiveness of the agri-food sector in our region. This cluster, which brings together more than 130 entities across the entire value chain, fosters a collaborative ecosystem focused on circular economy, sustainability, digitalization, and open innovation.
As a consultancy specialized in R&D&I projects, we see MadriFood as a strategic opportunity to connect technological solutions with the real needs of the sector, creating shared value. We contribute our expertise in managing collaborative projects, securing public funding, and driving transformative initiatives.
A Strategic Project to Boost the Sector’s Innovation and Sustainability
The Agri-Food Cluster of the Community of Madrid is a strategic project aimed at integrating all stakeholders in the agri-food value chain to promote innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness within the sector.
Under the name MadriFood, the cluster presents itself as a collaborative ecosystem that currently includes over 130 members, many of them companies within the agri-food chain in the Community of Madrid, along with public administration bodies and both national and regional research and technology centers. Its structure is based on a shared strategy for innovation, sustainability, and circular economy, designed to foster sustainable business models, collective innovation management, and effective public-private collaboration.
It also presents an opportunity to consolidate the experience and capabilities of the sector, generating value and visibility for all actors, especially the primary sector.
As an engineering and consultancy firm specialized in R&D&I projects for the agri-food sector, our integration into MadriFood represents a key strategic step and a strong commitment to the development of the regional agri-food ecosystem. This public-private collaboration space brings together all links of the value chain, from the primary sector to the HORECA channel, promoting innovation, digitalization, and sustainability as fundamental pillars of competitiveness.
To us, MadriFood is an ideal platform to connect technological solutions with the sector’s needs, promote open innovation, and foster projects with real impact. We contribute our experience in managing collaborative projects, securing national and European public funding, and driving transformative initiatives.
We therefore embark on this new stage with enthusiasm and a firm commitment to being an active member of the cluster, pushing forward projects that accelerate the transition to a more technological, healthy, and sustainable agri-food sector.
A Collaborative Cluster to Tackle Agri-Food Challenges
MadriFood is part of the framework for promoting collaborative networks outlined in the European Innovation Strategy, which recognizes clusters as key connectors between the productive sector and knowledge centers.
Among the main strategic axes of the cluster are:
- Positioning agri-food companies and organizations as leaders in driving R&D&I activities.
- Developing joint projects by channeling access to available funding through national calls.
- Sharing knowledge, capabilities, experiences, and resources for both individual and collective development across the sector.
- Serving as a liaison with policymakers from relevant fields.
- Supporting joint commercial and communication actions targeting potential clients.
- Exploring new markets by sharing resources and minimizing risks to reach new horizons.
To promote the revitalization of agri-food R&D in Madrid, the cluster has launched five working groups covering topics such as digitalization and big data in the sector, sustainability and the environment, food safety, innovation in processes and agri-food technology, and finally, internationalization and talent. We look forward to participating in the third round of working sessions scheduled for the second week of July 2025.
MadriFood’s Second General Assembly
As members of this cluster, on Wednesday, June 18, we had the opportunity to attend the Second General Assembly of MadriFood, held at the UAX-Buss&Tech Campus in Madrid. During the event, a review of the activities carried out over the past year within the cluster was presented, along with the examination and approval of the 2024 income statement and the 2025 budget.
Additionally, upcoming events were discussed (MadriFood Conecta, coordination meetings with other regional clusters, etc.), as well as major R&D and technological innovation projects already underway during these first 18 months since its inception in early 2024 (Project SAVI, Project TERRA, Project MADPRO, or DESAFIA — a supra-regional operational group led by MadriFood, among others).
The Assembly also featured a content-rich program and a stimulating roundtable discussion focused on Artificial Intelligence applied to the agri-food sector. Moderated by Román Muñoz, General Director of MadriFood, the panel included Javier Molina (CEO of TRIBU CORP), Esteban Hernando (founder of EDETRONIK), and Fabiola Nasca (Head of Regenerative AI at Banco de Sabadell). Together, they discussed and laid the groundwork for how technology is transforming agriculture, industry, and markets.
To close the event, a networking cocktail was held, further enhancing the collaborative spirit of the cluster. During this session, we had the opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences, and explore new synergies with other MadriFood members. We also took the opportunity to congratulate the team behind the cluster for the successes already achieved during its still short journey — starting with its President and Board of Directors, and especially its Technical Office (General Director and the technical and administrative team).
